Health Care IT Communities

The American Society of Health Informatics Managers is pleased to be working together with professional associations across the country to support professionals working to bridge the gap in their experience between Healthcare and IT to better assist our health care communities in this time of rapid technology adoption.

By working with health care professionals, ASHIM is providing opportunities to close the gap between supply and demand for an instrumental workforce in the implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) and similar health care technologies. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Education, has indicated a national shortage of at least 51,000 qualified Health IT workers needed in hospitals and practices as they adopt EHRs. To support the health care communities with this growing problem, ASHIM offers online health IT training and health IT certification for these high-demand health IT jobs.
